Lucy Renshaw- Textiles Handbook

I am a huge fan of Lucy Renshaw and today I purchased my very own copy of her recent book, Mixed media & found materials.

This book is all about experimenting with as many different colours, textures and materials as you can lay your hands on. Projects include combining fabrics, painting, printing, using wood, wallpapers and metals, to create both fashion garments and gorgeous one-off pieces for interiors. Readers will learn how to apply and adapt basic and more advanced techniques to such projects as making a fashion garment or accessory, or recovering chairs or old lampshades. This book will inspire enthusiastic beginners with limited textile skills as well as engaging more experienced makers looking for new inspiration and techniques. The book will also provide useful pointers for sourcing vintage fabrics and recycled materials as well as other reusable components.

Debbie Bryan Studio & Shop The Lace Market Nottingham

I had the pleasure not only to visit this amazing shop but also to meet Debbie Bryan. After explaining my final major project Debbie gave me lots of good advice. She also told me of some great designer/makers to research and allowed me to photograph some amazing items for sale.

Volunteer- Folio shop Hartlepool

Folio is a new and exciting retail experience which sells a range of unique, handmade designer goods and craft items which have been created by staff and students of Cleveland College of Art and Design. The shop is run on a non-profit basis, with having a strong retail background I was keen to be involved in the project.

What a bargain...............

I have just purchased this vintage chic standing floor light from the British Heart Foundation in Nottingham for £20.00. It needs work.....................repainting and a new shade but it is perfect for my final major project and its just what I was looking for!

I will post more photographs as the light develops into something fabulous.
